Founded in 2011, RedShelf was developed to provide the fastest and easiest way to make digital content available for readers anywhere. Their holistic approach provides a secure location for readers and publishers to share, sell, distribute, and acquire ebooks, etextbooks, academic papers, presentations, and other digital documents.
Managing a massive ebook store with the goal of helping higher education “go digital” can be complicated. Redshelf CFO & Co-Founder Tim Haitaian remembers how tricky managing their data became: “Before Grow, data was available to us, but difficult to pull together and scattered in multiple places.”
The team wanted strong data visualization to support decision making and empower company leadership. “We really started trying to create some sort of data visualization ourselves,” Haitaian explains. But after becoming frustrated with the difficulty and limitations of trying to go it alone, “I knew others had to have gone through a similar challenge, so I started looking for an alternative,” he said. “What we needed was an accessible, transparent, data visualization platform for our whole team to use.”
Haitaian says that for Redshelf, “Grow was exactly what we needed: low cost and very useful.” Redshelf signed up and immediately began the process of uniting all of their scattered data into a single source of truth: Grow.
Haitaian says that with Grow, they were “immediately able to visualize revenue figures, sales pipelines, and areas for improvement within the company.” Today, data is key component of day-to-day operations: “Everyone at Redshelf uses Grow.”
Haitaian and the Redshelf team have been pleased with the results: “We now have a singular source for information, and it’s timely and transparent.” Solving the problem of scattered and unorganized data wasn’t just a time saver. Haitaian says that “Grow provides us with the up-to-date and insightful information we need to excel at our jobs.”
Grow has been a powerful tool for Redshelf: “Our favorite Grow feature is the ability to combine several data sources into a single metric,” says Haitaian.
But that isn’t all. “What I didn’t see coming was that Grow reduced the number of questions I was asked on a daily basis,” Haitaian says. “Our employees can now easily find the info they’re looking for from our Grow dashboards.” With Grow, everyone knows what they should be doing and which direction to take.
In addition to Grow being a useful and powerful resource for the Redshelf team, Haitaian says, “The Grow team has been super helpful. They’ve held our hand with some of the more difficult stuff like building queries, and they also built out a new data connection to our database system for us.”
In addition to being able to blend data sources, increasing data transparency, and providing excellent support, Grow has impacted the entire company. According to Haitaian, the greatest value to Redshelf is that, now, “Grow has made us all more aware of what’s actually happening within our business.”
